Analyzing Tags

Once you’ve started using tags, you can start analyzing your data by filtering your spending according to tags, or generating tag-based reports and graphs. Filtering transactions by tags can be done from the Tags or Transactions page, while the reports are generated using the Query Tool on the Analyze page.
On the Tags page, you can easily access a filtered list of all transactions associated with a specific tag by clicking the magnifying glass icon ():
Open the Tags page
In the table, locate the tag that you are interested in and click on the magnifying glass icon located on the second last column to the right
A pop-up dialog displaying all associated transaction will appear on the screen
Alternatively, if you'd like a filtered view for a specific time period or to filter by more criteria (eg. combination of tags and categories), you can do so via the filter options on the Transactions page:
If you have transactions with tags in the active table view, you can quickly filter for an individual tag by clicking on the tag name in the table cell. Any transactions that are not associated with that tag will be hidden from view:
Keep in mind that this quick filter method will filter for the specific tag within the active viewing period only. If you are currently viewing the month of August, then you will only see the tagged transactions for that period.
For more advanced filtering options, such as filtering by multiple tags, filtering by tag and category, or filtering for a custom date range, you can click on 'Filters' to access the Advanced Filter option:
For example, if you have a tag for a specific trip and wish to filter to see all-time spending in food categories (eg. restaurants and supermarkets), your filter criteria may look like this:

On the Transactions page, you can choose whether to show or hide the 'Tags' column from the table view. For transactions with multiple tags, you can also choose whether to display just the first tag, or all of them.
To better visualize your spending habits and statistics, you can generate tag-based reports, charts, and graphs using the Query Tool on the Analyze page.
On the top-right above the table, you will find the display options and can change the view by clicking on any of these options at any time:
To display the tag data in the Query Tool, there are four breakdown options to choose from:
Breakdown by tag will create a report that displays spending per tag.
Breakdown by tag/category will create a two-level report that displays spending per tag, with further breakdown for the categories assigned to transactions using the tag.
Breakdown by category/tag will create a two-level report that displays spending per category, with further breakdown for any tags assigned to transactions in the category.
Breakdown by account/tag will create a two-level report that displays spending per account, with further breakdown for any tags assigned to transactions in the account.
The two-level breakdown will only reflect in the tabular report view. For the pie chart, bar graph, line chart, and stacker bar chart, only the first level will display. For example, if you have the breakdown set to “tag/category”, only the “tag” breakdown will be displayed in the charts and graphs.
