In Lunch Money, you can add and keep track of any account or asset, whether it's a bank account, a loyalty card, a physical wallet, a crypto asset, real estate or a vehicle!
Managing accounts or assets in multiple currencies?
Make sure to add those currencies under ‘Supported Currencies’ via the Settings page, to ensure that those are available as an option when editing transaction amounts and account balances.
Lunch Money supports automatic imports from supported banking institutions via Plaid. To connect a bank account for automatic syncing, follow these steps:
Open the Accounts page and click on the orange "Add account" button
In the 'Add Account or Asset' panel on the right, click on "Auto-import from my bank"
Select the relevant country and click on "Continue" to load the Plaid Link flow
For beta testers in the US & Canada, investment accounts (eg. Wealthsimple, Questrade, Fidelity, and others) are now available to connect by selecting the country and then enabling the option "I want to sync an investment account" at the bottom, before clicking on "Continue":
To learn more about the beta testing program, please click here.
Click on "Get started", and then click on "Continue as a guest"
Search and select your institution, and then enter your credentials to log in
Next, if prompted, select all accounts that you wish to sync and click on "Continue":
Click on "Continue" again to reach the 'Setup Account' prompts
Select the relevant account settings and click "Next" (repeat for each account):
All set! Your newly added synced accounts will now be listed on the Accounts page, and the balance will automatically update. If you chose to import transactions for the accounts, they will start syncing as well.
To add a manually-managed account or asset, follow these steps:
Open the Accounts page and click on the orange "Add account" button
In the 'Add Account or Asset' panel on the right, scroll down to 'Create a manually-managed asset:', select the relevant account type (eg. Credit) and click on "Next":
Select the account subtype from the available options, and click "Next"
Fill in the account name, institution, and display name, and click "Next"
Enter the current account balance and click on "Save & Close" to confirm
Once added, the account will be listed on the Accounts page. You will then be able to manually add transactions to this account via the Transactions page, and the balance will be adjusted accordingly. You will also be able to manually update the balance via the Accounts page when necessary.
Depending on the wallet, the connection between Lunch Money and the cryptocurrency wallet is established either using an API Key and Private Key, or a Wallet Address.
Go to the Accounts page and click on the orange "Add account" button
In the 'Add Account or Asset' panel on the right, click on "Link my cryptocurrency wallet"
Select your cryptocurrency wallet and fill in the required information to connect

Once connected, you will see your connected cryptocurrency accounts added to the Accounts page. The balance will automatically sync and display both the source amount and the fiat balance in your primary currency:
Setting up cryptocurrency for manual tracking is available for over 300 supported cryptocurrencies, with more being added every week by user demand!
If you don't see your cryptocurrency supported, please let us know and we'll work on adding it! 🙂
Open the Accounts page and click on the orange "Add account" button
Next, scroll to the bottom section labeled 'Create a manually-managed asset:', choose "Cryptocurrency", and click "Next":
Select your cryptocurrency from the dropdown menu, and click "Next":
Fill in the account name, institution, and display name, and click "Next":
Now you will enter how much of the token you hold. This is the number of tokens you hold and not the fiat balance (we will automatically calculate that for you based on your primary currency).
To confirm the creation of this new asset, click on "Save & Close"
Once added, you will see your manually-managed cryptocurrency account listed on the Accounts page with the balance displaying both the source amount and the fiat balance in your primary currency.
